Jetways and Gates
Four jetway tiers — match your target plane and control traffic order.

Jetways and Gates
Jetways are where payouts happen in Itty Bitty Airport — but only if the jetbridge tier matches your aircraft and the gate sits at the end of a clear taxi path as the last placed jetway. Four jetway types span from Air Stairs starter ramps to Double Jetbridge mega-gates for Boeing 747 and Airbus A380.
Jetway type matrix
| Jetway | Planes |
|---|---|
| Air Stairs | Beechcraft, Q400, Sea Plane, Firefighting |
| Small Jetbridge | Boeing 737, Airbus A320 |
| Medium Jetbridge | Boeing 777, Beluga, C-17 |
| Double Jetbridge | Boeing 747, Concorde, A380 |
Plane requirements checker — always verify
Last-placed jetway rule
Critical pathfinding behavior:
- Place jetways in intentional order
- Most recently placed jetway receives traffic
- That jetway must support active plane’s tier
- Taxi route must connect runway to that gate

Upgrade progression
Air Stairs → starter gates — Beechcraft
Medium Jetbridge → 777 / Beluga
Double Jetbridge → 747 / Concorde / A380
Budget Double Jetbridges before 150-capacity push — expensive but mandatory.
Gate placement tips
Connect taxiways before jetway placement
Cluster same-tier gates in concourses — terminal design
Endgame: separate Double Jetbridge concourses for Concorde vs A380 — endgame airport
Firefighting trap
Firefighting Plane uses Medium Runway + Medium ATC but Air Stairs — not jetbridge. Most common jetway mistake in mid-game.
Troubleshooting
Plane at gate, no payout → wrong jetway tier on last placed gate
Traffic ignores new gate → old jetway still “last placed” — reorder
Stuck on taxiway → path blocked — planes not landing
