Planes Not Landing — Troubleshooting Guide

Empty gates frustrate every Itty Bitty Airport builder. You expanded the terminal, bought a bigger runway, maybe even redeemed 500k for $50,000 — yet no Boeing 777 appears on final approach. This guide walks through every requirement planes check before landing and the pathfinding quirk that catches veterans: aircraft route to your last placed jetway, not your favorite gate.

The five landing requirements

Every plane in planes hub needs all five conditions true simultaneously:

1. Capacity — Indoor floor tiles ≥ plane requirement (1 tile = 1 capacity)
2. ATC Tower tier — Small, Medium, Large, or Long Range matching aircraft
3. Runway class — Small, Medium, Large, or Water Runway
4. Jetway type — Air Stairs, Small Jetbridge, Medium Jetbridge, or Double Jetbridge
5. Pathfinding — Clear route from runway to last placed jetway

Requirement 1: Capacity

Most common beginner block.

Requirement 2: ATC Tower tier

ATC tiers gate aircraft sophistication:

• Small ATC Tower — Beechcraft, Q400, Sea Plane starters
• Medium ATC Tower — A320, 777, Firefighting Plane
• Large ATC Tower — 747, Beluga, C-17
• Long Range ATC Tower — Concorde, A380 (Level 8, $400K)

Symptom: Plane unlocked in menu but ignores airport → wrong tower tier.

Requirement 3: Runway class

Undersized runways reject heavy aircraft:

• Small Runway — Starters, Q400
• Medium Runway — 737, A320, 777
• Large Runway — 747, Beluga, Concorde, A380
• Water Runway — Sea Plane only

Requirement 4: Jetway type

Jetbridge class must match:

• Air Stairs — Beechcraft, Q400, Sea Plane, Firefighting Plane
• Small Jetbridge — Boeing 737, Airbus A320
• Medium Jetbridge — 777, Beluga, C-17
• Double Jetbridge — 747, Concorde, A380

Symptom: Plane lands on runway then stops — jetway mismatch at last-placed gate.

Requirement 5: Last jetway pathfinding

Critical rule: Planes pathfind to the last placed jetway.

Scenarios that break landings:

• New jetway placed across airport without taxiway connection
• Last jetway requires jetbridge tier you don’t support
• Taxiway gap or building blocks path
• Last jetway deleted leaving pathfinder confused

Step-by-step diagnostic

1. Open plane requirements checker — select target plane
2. Verify capacity tile count indoors
3. Confirm ATC tier ≥ plane requirement
4. Confirm runway ≥ plane requirement
5. Confirm last placed jetway supports plane’s jetbridge type
6. Watch taxi path in-game — plane must reach that jetway
7. If stuck, delete problematic last jetway and reconnect

Plane-specific gotchas
